Workshop | Verdaccio: Introduction to Renaissance Style Underpainting Techniques with Melissa Clements

THURSDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2021, 4.45PM (FOR 5PM START) - 7PM AWST | AGWA EDUCATION STUDIO, ART GALLERY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA | TICKETS $45 EACH

Learn to emulate the Renaissance masters using the Verdaccio painting technique

Used in the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and oil paintings of the Madonna and Christ, Verdaccio combines black, white and yellow ochre to create a green monochrome underpainting. Layered with flesh tones, the resulting portrait glows with vibrant colour and translucency. Artist Melissa Clements will walk participants through the historical background of Verdaccio in the context of the Italian Renaissance, guiding them through the process of creating the preliminary layers required to make a lifelike portrait.

Tickets are strictly limited and include champagne and nibbles.
