Workshop | Working in Chiaroscuro with Anne McCaughey

THURSDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2021, 4.45PM (FOR 5PM START) - 7PM AWST | AGWA EDUCATION STUDIO, ART GALLERY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA | TICKETS $45 EACH

Explore the relationship between light and shadow to create realistic dimension in your work

A fundamental painting technique in Renaissance art, Chiaroscuro (from Italian chiaro, "light" and scuro, "dark") uses the extreme contrast of light and shadow to create the impression of three-dimensional objects.

Artist Anne McCaughey will guide participants in examining photographs, encouraging them to 'see' three-dimensional shapes created by extremes of light and dark. Using charcoal, red sienna chalk and white chalk, participants will use these skills to create realist works on coloured paper. Tickets are strictly limited and include champagne and nibbles.
