As a Lester Prize 2025 Finalist and Winner of the Baldock Family Foundation People’s Prize for Portraiture, artist Jessica Logan invites students to explore how body language, facial expression, and colour to communicate emotion and movement in portraiture.
Working in a variety of chosen mediums (or acrylic, crayons, pencils), students will be guided through techniques to enhance storytelling, from the importance of underpainting to colour psychology and brushwork.
Artists will begin developing a piece from their own reference photo, capturing a moment that moves them. Ideal for emerging and intermediate artists seeking to deepen their emotional impact through visual storytelling.
