Recognised as one of the country’s most prestigious art awards, The Lester Prize celebrates portraiture in all its forms — a medium that connects us all through the human likeness. This year, 40 finalists were selected from over 1,000 entries nationwide, competing for a share of the $130,000 prize pool – making The Lester Prize Australia’s richest portrait prize by prize money.

The exhibition features some works for sale, seven award categories (including the $50,000 Richard Lester Prize), and a diverse mix of artists — from seasoned professionals to emerging artists. With more than 26,000 visitors in 2024, this year promises to be even bigger!
