Artist Workshop: Jessica Logan – Emotion in Motion: Capturing Life Through Colour and Oil

By Zoe Wolski in Previous Events
INFO

Join Jessica Logan – the artist behind “Half time” – in an upcoming workshop.

This immersive 2-hour workshop invites participants to explore how body language, facial expression, and colour can be used to communicate emotion and movement in portraiture.

Working in oils on canvas, attendees will be guided through techniques to enhance storytelling, from the importance of underpainting to colour psychology and brushwork.

Artists will begin developing a piece from their own reference photo, capturing a moment that moves them. Ideal for emerging and intermediate artists seeking to deepen their emotional impact through visual storytelling.

MATERIALS

  • Reference photo of a portrait they would like to paint (digital or printed)
  • Pre-prepared canvas (A3 or larger, with underpainting if possible — burnt sienna or cool grey recommended)
